And Now Revenge

This exciting book is Part Two of Murder To A Slow Jazz Beat, by renowned mystery author, Art Lee.  And it is Book 11 of the Morgan Crew Murder Mystery Series.  At the end of Part One, “The Killing,” Morgan knows he has rid Europe of a notorious paid killer and has helped to protect Israel from terrorists.  He and his gorgeous wife Sandy are ready to fly home from Paris.  What he does not realize is that there is a price to pay for his deeds, and now certain secret criminal organizations want Morgan dead.  He waits one day too many to leave Paris and is arrested for a murder he did not commit.  He is held in a Paris prison that is full of Arab terrorists, and Sandy fears he will be killed there.

Out of desperation, Sandy goes to a wealthy friend, Joseph Cross (introduced in A Deadly London Fog and starred in Wait Until The Dark of Night).  Cross owns a famous casino in London and is an adventurer who makes most of his money smuggling diamonds and weapons.  He and his large, burly protector Billy Volgar agree to help.  What follows is one terrifying attempt after another to try to prevent the assassination of Morgan’s whole family.  It’s a thriller that will leave you breathless with suspense.

Part One: The Killings

Morgan Crew and his friend, Detective Bob Sommers, travel to Paris, France to attend the funeral of a college friend of theirs.  LeRoy Manns was a musician playing in a jazz band in a Paris Jazz Cellar.  His death was reported as an accident, but Morgan soon discovers that he was murdered.  Despite his better judgement – and that little voice in the back of Morgan’s head that tells him to run away from trouble – Morgan stays in Paris to find LeRoy’s murderer.

That seemingly simple task, at least simple for Morgan Crew, turns into an international incident involving terrorists and professional killers.  In Part One of this mystery, Morgan is successful in finding the killer, but the reader will have to wait for Part Two in order to find out if Morgan’s task is finished.

Wait Until The Dark Of Night - Book 2 of the Art Lee Mystery and Adventure Series by Author and Investigator Art Lee.

Wait Until The Dark Of Night is a spin-off from Lee's popular "Morgan Crew Murder Mystery Series." Joseph Cross, who helped Morgan Crew in A Deadly London Fog, is an American ex-patriot who owns a luxurious casino in London. He is high up in the criminal world of the UK, running smuggling operations and dealing in illegal diamonds.

His worst enemy, a Member of Parliament, asks for his help to rescue her son, who was kidnapped by an African warlord while doing mission work in Uganda. Cross sees this as an opportunity to get her and the police off his back and agrees to help. He makes use of his criminal contacts in Switzerland, Amsterdam, and Tenerife and hires a French mercenary group to back up his plans. He then travels deep into Africa, risking death and imprisonment again and again, never knowing if he or the young man will ever make it out alive.

And, despite his criminal reputation, Cross maintains he is willing to put his life at risk because 'It is the right thing to do.' The character is what Lee likes to describe as the "good bad guy."

This book is well worth reading and is a different flavor than Arthur Lee's other books. It is intense. The main character Joseph Cross is more of a man's man. He is not afraid to face death to do what needs to be done. But I found myself liking him and fearing what might happen next. The book is a thriller that is so packed with action that it is hard to put down. There are three female characters, all very different, strong, and sensual - excellent characterization.

Semi Finalist AuthorsDB

An Excellent Descriptive and Detailed Spy Activity Novel Involving Govt Agencies

The synopsis printed on the back cover of this book reads; A compelling, suspenseful drama, spy novel and murder mystery - you won"t be able to put down! That's exactly what I experienced from the beginning of the first chapter. The thorough descriptive and detailed events captured during this "fiction" novel made me believe that yes there was perhaps some imagination by the author as in most fiction novels, but when you read this book you may have second thoughts as to what is and what isn't fiction. This is especially noted when various government agencies are involved during the complex operations involving spy activity.

Based on the authors descriptive background it seems very possible to tie his career experiences to many of the events published in this book. I have personally read most of the novels by this author and each is excellent but, The Spy Who Would Not Talk is at the top of my list for being the very best. The book is an excellent read. Mr Arthur Lee please continue the good work. Les Bunting
